Low Carbon announces the appointment of Neil Brown as Head of Capital Formation

Neil Brown’s appointment will help Low Carbon to create renewable energy at scale and continue to make a positive impact on climate change

1 November 2023, London: Global renewable energy company Low Carbon has announced the appointment of Neil Brown as its first Head of Capital Formation, a new strategic role designed to facilitate the organisation’s ambition to deliver 20GW of new renewable energy capacity by 2030.

In his new position, Neil will support the company’s ongoing efforts to raise substantial capital to help accelerate the creation of large-scale renewable energy. He will report directly to founder and Chief Executive of Low Carbon, Roy Bedlow.

With over two decades of experience as an alternative investor, Brown will leverage his extensive expertise in infrastructure and renewable energy investing - and an impressive track record of raising capital - to drive Low Carbon’s global expansion.

Neil joins Low Carbon following a decade as a Partner at Actis, where he was responsible for leading $10 billion in capital raisings during his tenure. Prior to joining Actis, he co-founded Minerva Capital Advisors, a boutique advisory firm which specialised in high-level strategic transactions for private equity, hedge fund and real estate clients. He has also held senior positions as a business head within Citi’s Alternative Investments business in New York and London.

Among his many accolades, Brown was included in PEI Infrastructure Investor’s inaugural ‘Infrastructure Rainmaker 20’ list, which highlights professionals who have demonstrated “exceptional fundraising prowess” in the infrastructure field.

Commenting on the appointment, Brown said:"I am excited to be joining the team at Low Carbon, a company at the forefront of driving renewable energy investment. Raising new sources of capital through different investment options is vital to securing a net-zero future, and I look forward to using my experience to help Low Carbon achieve its strategic objectives.”

Roy Bedlow, founder and Chief Executive of Low Carbon, added: “We are delighted to welcome Neil to our leadership team. His extensive experience in capital formation and deep understanding of the alternative investment landscape will be invaluable in accelerating our mission to provide clean, sustainable energy solutions. Neil's expertise will play a crucial role in helping us secure the necessary funding to drive our renewable energy projects forward and meet our strategic goals.”
