Low Carbon’s dedicated Asset Management team oversees a ~1GW portfolio of operating renewable energy assets for Low Carbon and our Asset Management clients. Whether sites are our own, or managed on behalf of third parties, we apply our proven experience to maximise operational and financial performance.

Our Asset Management team has an established track record in managing operational renewable energy assets. We know from experience that with careful and proactive management, we are able to maximise operational and financial performance across every site we manage.

Currently, Low Carbon manages more than 100 operating renewable energy sites for ourselves and our clients. We have experience in managing a range of renewable technology assets including solar photovoltaic (PV), wind and battery storage.

Our Asset Management team is proficient at looking after projects from construction right through to operation.

Lifecycle asset management

Our experience in managing solar assets dates back to 2011, and much progress has been made in that time.  Low Carbon is focused on the continuous review and improvement of design, equipment specifications and operational learning, ensuring we optimise output throughout the asset management lifecycle.

Operational excellence

The Low Carbon team utilises top-tier asset management tools and structured processes to ensure economies of scale and to maximise operational excellence.  We benefit from direct relationships with key contractors, landowners, market players, the regulator (Ofgem) and equipment suppliers.  Low Carbon Asset Management is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Active site management

We ensure our teams are regularly on the ground, providing a consistent on-site presence.  This enables us to verify quality standards, maintain detailed site operational knowledge and to ensure good working relationships with landowners. Regular site visits also ensure we have maximum attention on the success and implementation of biodiversity and land management measures.

Maximising operational performance

To ensure optimal output throughout the year, the Low Carbon team undertake regular performance monitoring and analysis of the technical output of all the sites we manage. This approach ensures each asset we manage delivers maximum operational performance.

Low Carbon provided Asset Management services to the VLC Energy joint venture on a 10MW and 40MW grid connected battery storage portfolio from construction in 2017 through to the sale of the assets to Gresham House Energy Storage Fund in December 2019. Their services included managing the EPC through construction and working with the EPC to achieve PAC, Taking Over Certificate and FAC. They provided regular reporting and issue resolution with the EPC and O&M provider, NEC. We found their services to be professional, diligent and responsive. They worked closely with us on both simple and complex issues to maximise the performance and up time of the assets. They were very effective in supporting the sale process through the on-going development of the virtual data room and prompt responses to buyer questions”
