Low Carbon has an established track record and a growing pipeline of large-scale wind projects in development around the UK, Europe and Globally. We have ambitious targets to grow our portfolio in line with our goal as a business to create 20GW of new renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Onshore wind provides the cheapest source of new electricity in the UK, cheaper than gas, nuclear, coal and other renewables. Wind farms are a temporary and reversible use of farmland and provide an increased, diversified and stable source of income for landowners with many wind farms being grazed by livestock or combined with other farming and/or estate practices.

In the UK, wind farms historically benefited from UK government subsidies. However, greater turbine efficiencies combined with developer expertise and reducing turbine costs, mean wind farms don’t necessarily need a direct subsidy. Now is the time to move ahead with the development of onshore wind in the UK and internationally.

At Low Carbon, we possess the skills, knowledge, and experience to make your renewable energy dream a reality. If you have land available and are interested in the opportunity to generate long-term, inflation-linked income through wind energy, please contact us via email development@lowcarbon.com or by completing the contact form here.

Our development process

Low Carbon follows a well-defined and structured process in developing high quality onshore wind projects:

1. Land assessment: we evaluate the land’s suitability for a wind farm and with an exclusivity agreement in place, we may carry out some initial environmental surveys

2. Grid connection: with agreement from the landowner, we apply for a no obligation grid connection on the identified land

3. Planning:with a secure land agreement in place, Low Carbon will undertake a full Environmental Impact Assessment and a full planning application for the agreed site

4. Construction: with planning completed and a grid connection confirmed, Low Carbon will initiate the construction of the wind farm

5. Operation and Asset Management: once the site has been fully tested and successfully commissioned, the wind farm becomes fully operational. All asset management duties are managed by Low Carbon

6. Local community: we will engage and work with the community and other stakeholders to deliver the maximum benefit the local area

Benefits of wind

Wind turbines convert the wind’s kinetic energy into clean, renewable energy at scale, usually to feed into the electricity network. Once operational, the infrastructure footprint of a wind farm, which includes turbine foundations and access tracks, is relatively modest, enabling continued grazing and mixed land use.
