In growing its renewable energy portfolio, Low Carbon made an investment into onshore wind generation by partnering with Hoolan Energy, a Scottish-based renewable energy developer specialising in marine and onshore wind projects.

With a strong background in renewables and a focus on responsible development, the Hoolan Energy team evaluate renewable energy projects across Scotland, including the possibility of onshore wind and tidal projects in Orkney. As a member of the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum, Hoolan Energy is keenly aware of the major barrier that grid constraints represent to all forms of renewable energy investment on the islands but believe their latest projects have the potential to help bring a grid connection to the islands, unlocking restrictions on existing projects and boosting investor confidence in Orkney.
