When you set out with a vision like ours, it doesn’t feel like a neat story with a beginning, middle and end. We are on a long journey. In 2011, our goal was to build a business that would stand the test of time, for the benefit of both the planet and future generations. A business our children would be proud of. By investing in renewable energy, developing new green energy assets, and by optimising the way renewable sites are managed, we have moved to the forefront of a global drive to change the mix of energies used to power our lives.

Climate change and, specifically, humankind’s role in it, is utterly irrefutable and scientifically beyond question. And the global recognition, especially amongst the younger generations, is such that the work now underway to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and change the energy mix in favour of renewables cannot be rolled back. But while that is a reassuring thought, the reality is that time is of the essence.

For Low Carbon, we have set our sights on generating 20GW of renewable energy by 2030. And to do that, we’d need to take the quality and integrity that we’ve become known for, and scale it at pace.
