Investments

  • Assist with investments into and shepherd renewable energy, battery storage and other distributed energy generation projects through the development cycle.
  •  Ensure that investment projects are developed as swiftly as possible without compromise to quality/bankability.
  •  Assist in the origination of new investment opportunities and markets.
  •  Support Investment Committee presentations to champion initial and continued investment in selected investments.
  •  Work collaboratively with Low Carbon’s developers to ensure that the agreed development plans and budgets are adhered to in order to ensure first class assets are delivered to achieve Low Carbon’s business objectives, including maximising the return on investment from developers and minimising lead times to commissioning.
  •  Identify threats and risks to allocated projects and implement solutions to resolve or mitigate them.
  • Engage and maintain good relationships with stakeholders in allocated projects.
  •  Understand the economic drivers of allocated projects and ensure ongoing robust analysis of projects undertaken in order to meet Low Carbon’s investment objectives.

Industry Awareness

  • Maintain awareness of renewable policy, planning, grid connection and electricity market reform matters and the impact these will have on project developments. Where necessary propose and implement ongoing and appropriate strategy and actions.
  • Possess a well-developed network across developers and funders/investors in the UK energy sector.

Personal characteristics

Prospective candidates should be educated to degree level and be able to provide evidence of:

  • Several years’ experience in renewable energy project management, development, financing and/or investment with a demonstrable track record of successfully seeing projects through from planning consent through to financial close.
  • Professional services training or equivalent.
  • A demonstrable commitment and alignment to the values and organisational objectives of Low Carbon.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups.

  • This includes maximising the production (MWh), availability and efficiency (performance ratio) of a number of solar parks and minimising costs and H&S incidents to meet and exceed the budgets
  • The Technical Asset Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the site management services under the Asset Management agreements for a portfolio of solar parks in the UK to protect and enhance their value on behalf of the owners

Additional Responsibilities

  • Tracking and managing the key performance indicators (production, availability, performance ratio, grid downtime), understanding the main causes of downtime for each solar park and following up proactively with contractors to maximise performance
  • Responsible for managing the performance (regular reviews and meetings) of all service contractors and the compliance with their contractual obligations including:
  • Holding regular reviews and meetings with all service contractors
  • Meeting and exceeding performance guarantees such as availability, and performance ratio
  • Health, safety and environmental performance and compliance with the site H&S plan, the relevant Health and Safety standards, legislation and good industry practice
  • Response time for corrective maintenance and effective technical resolution of equipment failures

  • Liaising with the grid network operator and management of the grid connection agreement for each site under management

  • Implementation of land management measures to comply with planning consents and Low Carbon land management strategy
  • Recommend technical, design and contractual improvements with support from the Performance Analyst as appropriate to enhance the performance of the sites (e.g. MWh and PR)
  • Support commercial site manager with insurance claims

Team Work

  • Ensuring the effective support of/liaison with other parts of the Low Carbon business
  • Maintaining good communications  with the Low Carbon  team to ensure assets  are optimised and fit with the company’s goals and standards

  • At least 3 years professional experience in the electricity industry

  • Competent when dealing with quality standards, best practice procedures, technical specifications and regulatory requirements

  • The Commercial Manager will be part of the Asset Management team and will report to the Head of Operations. They will work closely with the wider Low Carbon Asset Management team including technical asset management and performance manager and external technical advisers as appropriate

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing commercial agreements and the compliance of the SPV and the contractors with their contractual obligations including:
    • Power purchase agreements and FIT agreements
    • Operations and Maintenance agreements
    • Insurance policies and management of claims
    • Lease agreements and lease payments
    • Loan Agreements
    • Asset Management Agreements
  • Management of EPC end of warranty period
  • Management of O&M IAC and FAC process
  • Management of component warranty claims
  • Coordination of the formal reporting to the investors/owners by liaising with the Technical Asset Management, Operational Performance and Finance Management functions
  • Relationship Management with third party owners
  • Preparation of the annual operating budgets
  • Responsible for setting up and managing the Corporate Diary for all SPVs

  • A good knowledge of the UK electricity market, including contacts with market players, experience of subsidy mechanisms and the relevant administrative processes, and clear understanding of the regulatory principles of the UK market

Administration support

  • Scan and print large and complex documents. Ensure documents are managed in a logical and professional manner.
  • Assume responsibility for and management of couriers for confidential Low Carbon documents and papers. Maintain a log of all delivery requests and fulfilment. Ensure follow-up of all items
  • Supporting archive requests including pick-ups and drop-offs
  • Other administrative requirements as required from time to time
  • Data room management (including access management and folder allocation)
  • Provide support to the senior management team as and when required from project work through to travel management

Office management and Front-of-office support
While a full-time receptionist is in place the ideal candidate will provide additional cover for essential office administration and front of office tasks including:

  • Meeting planning and management ensuring all meetings and guests are managed in a professional, faultless manner
  • Align each day’s meeting schedule with building and Low Carbon reception to ensure each guest and meeting is adequately resourced
  • Ensure meeting rooms are prepared, with IT set-up and catering as required for each meeting
  • Coordinate diaries and meeting set-up with external partners, board members and team as required
  • Meet and greet Low Carbon VIP guests and external partners
  • Provide phone cover for Low Carbon’s main number and managing calls in a professional and expeditious manner
  • Ensure at all times that adequate staffing is in place for all front-of-house duties during normal office hours and, occasionally, outside of office hours
  • Ensure the office infrastructure and fixtures are maintained to a high standard, working with building management to implement remedial action as and when required
  • Support the Low Carbon team in managing and resolving IT and telecoms related issues and requirements via Low Carbon’s third party provider

  • Act as custodian of Health and Safety practices for low Carbon. Obtain (if not already in place) Fire Marshal and First Aid training
