Principal Accountabilities

  • The successful appointee will take responsibility for the supporting effective and efficient delivery of the commercial management function under the Asset Management agreements for a portfolio of solar PV assets in the UK to protect and enhance their value on behalf of the owners
  • The Associate Asset Manager will be part of the Asset Management team and will report to the Head of Operations. They will work closely with the wider Low Carbon asset management team including technical asset management and performance manager and external technical advisers as appropriate

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing commercial agreements and the compliance of the SPV and the contractors with their contractual obligations including:
    • Power purchase agreements and FIT agreements
    • Operations and Maintenance agreements
    • Insurance policies and supporting management of claims
    • Lease agreements and lease payments
    • Asset Management Agreements
  • Responsible for setting up and managing the Corporate Diary for all SPVs
  • Support tendering and procurement activities with support of external advisers as appropriate

Team Work

  • Ensuring the effective support of/liaison with other parts of the Low Carbon business
  • Maintaining good communications with the Low Carbon team to ensure assets are optimised and fit with the company’s goals and standards
  • Contributes in the preparation of tender documents supporting the Low Carbon senior team
  • Actively share lessons learnt and contribute to the continuous improvement for other sites
  • Support other business development/project origination activities as necessary
  • Any other reasonable requests from the Head of Operations

The ideal candidate

Prospective candidates should be educated to degree level in an engineering or commercial discipline and be able to provide evidence of being / having:

  • At least 1 year of experience in the energy and renewables industry
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry, desire for success and the willingness to challenge the status quo in order to maximise assets’ ROI safely following best practise guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups
  • Professionalism, the ability to understand and manage client expectations and deliver high quality service
  • Excellent EXCEL and Database skills, comfortable with manipulating large data sets and data analysis to support commercial decision making
  • Robust and resilient character with the ability to operate optimally within a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment

Primary Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational and HSE performance of Low Carbon’s and 3rd party solar parks as well as the contractual performance of all the relevant contractors
  • This includes maximising the production (MWh), availability and efficiency (performance ratio) of a number of solar parks and minimising costs and H&S incidents to meet and exceed the budgets
  • The Associate Technical Asset Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the site management services under the Asset Management agreements for a portfolio of solar parks in the UK to protect and enhance their value on behalf of the owners

Additional Responsibilities

  • Tracking and managing the key performance indicators (production, availability, performance ratio, grid downtime), understanding the main causes of downtime for each solar park and following up proactively with internal team and contractors to maximise performance
  • Responsible for managing the performance (regular reviews and meetings) of all service contractors and the compliance with their contractual obligations
  • Contributing to the preparation of the monthly management reports for the solar parks by providing operational and HSE commentary and reviewing operational KPIs prepared by performance analyst
  • Support the close out of construction punch list items
  • Liaising with the grid network operator and management of the grid connection agreement for each site under management
  • Supporting the implementation of land management measures to comply with planning consents and Low Carbon land management strategy
  • Support rest of Asset Management team as and when needed

Team Work

  • Ensuring the effective support of/liaison with other parts of the Low Carbon business
  • Maintaining good communications with the Low Carbon team to ensure assets are optimised and fit with the company’s goals and standards
  • Actively sharing lessons learnt and contribute to the continuous improvement for other sites
  • Supporting other business development/project origination activities as necessary
  • Fulfilling any other reasonable requests from the Head of Technical Asset Management

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate candidates should be able to provide evidence of being / having:

  • Hold a degree in engineering
  • A good technical knowledge of electricity generation and solar park technology would be beneficial
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry
  • A desire for success , willingness to find work and tenacity
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups
  • Good communication skills and the ability to engage with all stakeholder groups including OEMs, contractors and clients
  • A good degree of professionalism with the ability to understand and manage client expectations and deliver high quality service
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision when interfacing with stakeholders but also able to work with all members of the Low Carbon and external client teams as and when necessary to implement initiatives to minimise asset downtime and maximise revenues
  • A robust and resilient character with the ability to operate optimally within a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Tracking and managing the key performance indicators (production, availability, performance ratio, grid downtime), understanding the main causes of downtime for each solar park and following up proactively with contractors to maximise performance
  • Responsible for managing the performance (regular reviews and meetings) of all service contractors and the compliance with their contractual obligations including:
    • Meeting and exceeding performance guarantees such as availability, and performance ratio
    • Health, safety and environmental performance and compliance with the site H&S plan, the relevant Health and Safety standards, legislation and good industry practice.
    • Response time for corrective maintenance and effective technical resolution of equipment failures
    • Preventative maintenance
    • Remediation of defects
    • Performance of security systems and communication systems
  • Contributing to the preparation of the monthly management reports for the solar parks by providing operational and HSE commentary and reviewing operational KPIs prepared by performance analyst
  • Managing the close out of the construction punch list items
  • Carrying six-monthly site inspections on each solar park, issuing inspection reports and tracking remediation of defects by the contractors
  • Liaison with the grid network operator and management of the grid connection  agreement for each of the sites
  • Liaison with the Technical Adviser for inspections and operational reviews
  • Implementation of land management measures to comply with planning consents and Low Carbon land management strategy
  • Recommend technical, design and contractual improvements with support from the Performance Analyst as appropriate to enhance the performance of the sites (MWh, PR…)
  • Support commercial site manager with insurance claims

Team Work

  • Ensuring the effective support of/liaison with other parts of the Low Carbon business
  • Maintaining good communications with the Low Carbon team to ensure assets are optimised and fit with the company’s goals and standards
  • Contributes in the preparation of tender documents supporting the Low Carbon senior team
  • Actively share lessons learnt and contribute to the continuous improvement for other  sites
  • Support other business development/project origination activities as necessary including the drafting, review and negotiation of service contracts from OEMs and other service contractors
  • Any other reasonable requests from the Asset Director

The ideal candidate

Prospective candidates should be educated to degree level in an engineering or commercial discipline and be able to provide evidence of being / having:

  • An experienced professional in the electricity industry with at least 5 years of experience and a demonstrable track record of successfully managing the performance of operational assets
  • A good technical knowledge of electricity generation and solar park technology in particular
  • Good contractual understanding and experience of negotiating or managing EPC and O&M contracts
  • Competent when dealing with quality standards, best practise procedures, technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry, desire for success and the willingness to challenge the status quo in order to maximise assets’ ROI safely following best practise guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with all stakeholder groups including OEMs, contractors and clients

  • Responsible for managing commercial agreements and the compliance of the SPV and the contractors with their contractual obligations including:
    • Power purchase agreements and FIT agreements
    • Ofgem subsidy process
    • Insurance policies and management of claims
    • Meter operator agreements
    • Import electricity agreements
    • Lease agreements and lease payments
    • Loan Agreements
    • Asset Management Agreements
  • Coordination of the formal reporting to the investors by liaising with the Site Management, Operational Performance and Finance Management functions
  • Relationship Management with third party owners
  • Preparation of the annual operating budgets
  • Act as regulatory and electricity market expert within the Asset Management and responsible for issuance of regulatory reports to investors as appropriate
  • Responsible for setting up and managing the Corporate Diary for all SPVs
  • Lead tendering and procurement activities with support of external advisers as appropriate
  • Manage the offsite relationship with the landlords and/or residents and other community relations
