Cleator Battery Storage

This storage site was exited by Low Carbon as part of our broader and ongoing commitment to a sustainable future.

Energy storage has a crucial role to play in both the management of energy supply in the UK and in the wider uptake of renewable energy technologies in the future. The Cleator battery storage project, a 10MW Low Carbon Battery Park™, is one of the newest sites in a growing portfolio of energy storage projects. The project was successfully awarded contracts in the National Grid’s Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) tender process and the Capacity Market Auction during 2016. The Low Carbon Battery Parks™ at Cleator and Glassenbury represent a quarter of of National Grid’s EFR capacity.
